Solon Community School District
High School Principal
Solon, Iowa
Nathan Wear taught elementary students in Texas before returning to his home state of Iowa. He was an elementary principal at a building for six years that had overhauled its report card before moving across Iowa to become a high school principal. He is a certified elementary teacher, K-12 principal and superintendent. At the high school, Nathan and his staff challenged the notion of traditional grading and developed a standards based assessment and reporting system. Coupled with a school-wide structure for student interventions, Nathan led his staff through the Response to Intervention process to ensure learning for every student. Nathan regularly volunteers his time coaching his children’s sports teams and serving on advisory boards for the School Administrators of Iowa.
